Winter Solstice Picnic
Celebrating the Winter Solstice in the Redwood Forest by having a picnic and getting in touch with nature. If anyone reading this lives in Victoria and you have never visited, I highly recommend you go. It's such a lovely spot and you get to drive through Warburton, which is such a cute little township, full of interesting stores and cafes.
Into the woods we go.
The afternoon light was incredible.
Where the wild things are.
Hayley looking very much at home in her surroundings, being the little forest fairy she is.
A face to love.
A little lovely yellow breasted finch.
This little guy decided to keep us company while we had our picnic under a big old tree in the middle of the field.
The moon was our constant companion and shone light on our picnic.
Hayley with her cup of soup.
Nests here and there and everywhere.
Heidi and her lovely winter hat.
Yoga amongst the trees anyone?
Heidi and camera.
Like in all good fairytales, the forest felt full of magic and old wisdom.
A perfect picnic basket for an adventure for three.
We stumbled upon a giant nest and then another.
Is that Heidi I spy?
Basking in the amazing light. I think I might have even spotted a fairy in a tree.
Feeling a bit like Gretel leaving a trail of breadcrumbs.
Feeling pretty happy that I got to spend the day in a magical place with two magical people.
Love this girl! She is so full of light and sweetness.
Hands and ferns and all kinds of loveliness.
Making out like Harry and Ron (not sure which is whom) after finding some wands on the forest floor.
I'm a tiny bit addicted to collecting old picnic baskets, and this compact little guy is one of my favourites. I like to think it has had many adventures and witnessed at least a few romances.
The forest floor knows many secrets.
Hayley and her beautiful spirit.
Heidi and Hayley looking angelic in the soft afternoon light.
When you find a big nest, you just have to sit in it.
Playing with ferns and getting hungry.
Ferns and fingers. We couldn't stop taking pictures with the ferns, they were so vibrant and green again the leaf strewn ground.
My favourite vintage thermos (yep, I'm a collector) filled with sweet, and thankfully, very hot chai.
These two almost turned into stone before we finished taking the shots. What troopers!
Something was funny, I just can't remember what.
Blankets and more blankets are needed when Picnicking in the middle of winter.
Super tasty gluten free and vegan heart shaped cookies warmed our hearts on the day.
Where fairytale creatures live and make mischief.
Cosy socks and blankets
Blankets and cinnamon incense kept us feeling toasty.
An evening sky and bare branches.
