Ginger and Turmeric Tonic

This tonic has amazing antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties from the turmeric and ginger and will leave you feeling warm and cosy and nourished. This is a really lovely thing to drink before going to bed to help you feel relaxed and just a bit zenned out.

what you need

1 cup milk

Knob of fresh turmeric or 1 teaspoon ground turmeric

Knob of fresh ginger or 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

1 teaspoon sweeter of your choice


what to do

Heat the milk in a small saucepan to just before boiling point.

Finely zest your fresh turmeric and ginger. I use a Microplane to do this.

Add the rest of the ingredients and give it a quick whisk so that everything blends well and allow to sit for a minute so the flavours infuse.

Pour into a mug using a strainer if you want a smooth drink, others leave the pulp in.
